Jonathan Hepburn

Agriculture Programme Officer

Jonathan HEPBURN is Programme Officer for Agriculture at ICTSD. Before joining ICTSD in 2006, he was Oxfam International’s representative to the World Bank and IMF in Washington D.C., and from 2004 also led Oxfam’s global campaign on aid, debt and the Millennium Development Goals.

Previously, he worked for three years on trade, development and human rights issues with the Quaker United Nations Office in Geneva, supporting developing country delegates in negotiations at the WTO on access to medicines, seeds and technology, and promoting dialogue on intellectual property and development.

He has also worked for the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, conducting research and policy analysis on international peace and security issues; for Migrants Rights International, on the human rights of migrants and their families; and for the International Labour Organisation (ILO), on voluntary initiatives, government regulation and international labour standards. He has written on a range of trade and sustainable development issues, including development financing, intellectual property rules, and food, agriculture and biodiversity. Mr. Hepburn holds an M.A. in Geography and Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh in the UK. He is of British nationality.
