Martin WATSON is Senior Manager for Outreach and Communications. Martin started his professional career at the European Commission in Brussels, with a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. From 1992 to 1995 he worked in the Directorate-General for External Economic Relations, responsible for liaison and outreach on trade issues with the South-East Asia region.
After completing a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Aid at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 1996, Martin worked in the international development field with various non-governmental organisations. He held senior management positions with responsibility for communicating key goals and objectives to a wide range of constituents including donors, governments and media.
Martin returned to the field of trade joining the Quaker United Nations Office in Geneva from 2004 to 2007. Working closely with the African and Least Developed Country groups at the World Trade Organisation, he helped identify and communicate policy interests in the Doha Round.
