9-13 October, New Delhi, India. SECOND INTERNATIONAL RICE CONGRESS 2006. Organized jointly by the International Rice Research Institute and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the theme of this congress is "Science, technology, and trade for peace and prosperity." It comprises four major events: the 26th International Rice Research Conference (including e.g. a session on ‘genetics and genomics’ and workshops on hybrid rice and on genetically modified rice and biosafety issues); the second International Rice Commerce Conference; the second International Rice Technology and Cultural Exhibition; and the second International Ministers’ Round Table Meeting. 12-16 December, Haikou City, Hainan Province, China: THE EAST ASIAN SEAS (EAS) CONGRESS 2006. This event will bring together international organisations, experts and multi-sector stakeholders to exchange knowledge and build capacity in developing strategies to implement the Millennium Development Goals and WSSD goals for the region’s coasts and oceans.
