14 December, Geneva, Switzerland: TRANSATLANTIC PERCEPTIONS ON GLOBALISATION AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE. Organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the German Marshall Fund of the US (GMF). ICTSD and GMF will present the key results of the third annual Perspectives on Trade and Poverty Reduction survey. The survey examines US and European views on international trade, the impact of trade and foreign direct investment on jobs, the links between freer trade and democracy, the implications of China’s growth, and the role of trade and aid as tools for economic development. The survey was conducted in the US, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland and Slovakia. Combined, these countries represent significant shares of global trade, foreign direct investment and development assistance. The results offer a rare view into US and EU perspectives on the challenges of an increasingly interdependent world and reveal a number of important shifts in public opinion on the major forces shaping economic prosperity — at home and abroad.
