Technology and IPRs

The rapid diffusion of clean energy and climate-friendly technologies is crucial in order to address climate change and support a sustainable energy transition. ICTSD’s programme on trade and climate change is assessing the role of intellectual property rights in facilitating or hindering access to clean energy technologies – and whether IPR flexibilities may be needed. The work is undertaken on a sector by sector basis, and on the basis of developing countries’ technological needs assessment within the climate change context.
