Globalisation and the emergence of globalised IP standards, such as the TRIPS Agreement, have significantly altered the debate on technology transfer which has been taking place for several decades.
Considering new trends in this area, ICTSD’s work examines how technology is transferred today to developing countries and the barriers that affect its transfer. It also seeks to identify policy options, for developing countries, that might be of assistance in overcoming such barriers.
